Queen's University was awarded the hosting rights to both the 2023 and 2024 Vanier Cup on March 30, 2023. These championships mark the first and second Vanier Cups to be held in Kingston, and the third and fourth times a Canadian university football title game will be played in the city (1920, 1929). Kingston is the eighth city to host a Vanier Cup since its inception in 1965. 

The 2024 Vanier Cup will feature the winners of the Mitchell Bowl and Uteck Bowls, respectively, and will be held at Richardson Stadium on November 23, 2024.

  • When did Richardson Stadium open?
    The revitalized Richardson Stadium opened in the Fall of 2016 features. The stadium an artificial turf field, a three-stage lighting system, modern sound system, video board (for live video, replays and promotions), two scoreboards (one in each end zone), concourse to navigate around entire stadium, modern washrooms and new concessions and more!
  • Can anyone purchase tickets to attend a Gaels game at Richardson Stadium?
    Yes, anyone can purchase a ticket at gogaelsgo.com/tickets
  • How will I receive my tickets after I purchase online?
    After you purchase your tickets online, a confirmation email will be sent to you with a link to log in and print off your tickets. You will need to bring your printed or mobile ticket to the game.
  • Is there a designated section for local groups (schools, clubs, teams, etc.)?
    Whether you are teammates looking for a great experience, co-workers or classmates who want to blow off some steam after a busy week, or friends or family wanting a fun outing, we have a group ticket package available for you! Please email custserv@queensu.ca for more details.
  • Where do I enter the stadium?
    The main entrance is located on the East side of the stadium in front of the parking lot. Gates 1 and 2 are both wheelchair accessible.
  • Where can I park for games at Richardson Stadium?
    Queen's west campus offers one paid lot (Lot 1), and 6 free parking lots. Parking in lot one must be pre-purchased at www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets Recommended Routes: For lots 1 (pre-paid), 5 and 6 (free) Please enter west campus off Johnson St. (West of Sr. John A. Macdonald Blvd.) Lots 4, 7 & 8 (free) Please enter west campus off Sr. John A Macdonald Blvd. (south of Johnson)
  • Is there accessible seating?
    Queen's First Aid is positioned on the East side of the stadium beside the washrooms. Contact the nearest Home Events staff member (identified by their bright yellow clothing) who will summon help or guide you to the First Aid staff.
  • Can I bike to the stadium?
    Yes, for your convenience there is a bike rack station on the Southeast side of the East building which is located near Gate 2.
  • Where is First Aid available?
    Contact the nearest Home Events staff member (identified by their bright yellow clothing) who will summon help or guide you to the First Aid staff. Queen's First Aid is positioned on the East side of the stadium beside the washrooms.
  • Are there Outdoor Emergency Phones at the stadium?
    Yes, The Outdoor Emergency Phones are easily identified on campus by their blue lights and yellow boxes with a large red button and are located throughout Richardson Stadium and provide a direct phone communication link to Queen's Campus Security's Emergency Report Centre (ERC) for any emergencies or need for immediate assistance.
  • Why don't you sell bottled water?
    As of September 1st, 2012 Queen's University became bottled water free. This means that single-use bottled water is no longer available in vending machines, retail outlets or at events. Click here for more on this campus policy. Reusable water bottles may be available for purchase at the Q-Shop.
  • What type of food will be available at the stadium?
    Spectators will be able to select from a wide variety of food and drink options across three concession stands (Lang Pavilion and behind the East and West stands). We are also excited to welcome a number of food vendors from across our community to Richardson Stadium this season who will be stationed adjacent to the Gate 2 entrance.
  • Can I bring food and beverages with me to the Stadium?
    Yes, Outside food and beverage will be permitted into Richardson Stadium as long as the items are wrapped, bagged or left inside a container to avoid spillage. Food containers must be soft-sided and small enough to fit under the guest's seat. Security staff may, at their discretion, ask a fan to empty any beverage containers prior to entry to the stadium. Fans may bring EMPTY water bottles/beverage containers. Water Filling stations are located on both sides of the stadium. Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited from entering Richardson Stadium.
  • Can I purchase alcoholic beverages at the stadium?
    Select alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available across the three concession stands at Richardson Stadium this season, as well as from in-seat hawkers in the Gold sections. Sale of alcoholic beverages from the Lang Pavilion concession will be available 60 minutes before the scheduled kick-off time, while sales of alcoholic beverages across the remainder of the Stadium will commence 30 minutes prior to kick off. All sales of alcoholic beverages across all areas of the venue, for the duration of the game, will be limited to two drinks per transaction. Upon entry to the stadium, spectators with reserved seats will be screened to verify legal drinking age and will be given a wristband on their right wrist. Only spectators wearing a wristband will be permitted to purchase alcohol.
  • Where are the washrooms?
    Washrooms are located in the East building, across from Section 104 and the West building on the ground level.
  • Is there a Family / Gender Neutral Washroom?

  • Where are the player benches located?
    The Gaels home bench will be on the West side of the field with the visiting team's bench on the East side. *This is subject to change to accommodate TV or other events.
  • How much knee space in there in the Gold seats?
    In the occupied position, there is about 11" from the front edge of the seat to the cup holder on the back of the chair in front of it. Unoccupied is 16-3/8"

  • Where can I purchase Queen's Gaels and Athletic wear?
    The Q-Shop offers three convenient ways for you to gear up for game day! Visit the Q-Shop's flagship store in the ARC during regular operating hours, shop online 24/7 at the qshop.ca or purchase your Gaels gear on game days at our Q-Shop store in the east building located behind Section 105 at Richardson Stadium. All season ticket holders receive a discount on all Q-Shop purchases when they present their accreditation pass.
  • Can I bring my pet to the game?
    Animals and pets are not permitted in Richardson Stadium with the exception of service animals. Service animals must have proper certification and identification.
  • Can I bring an umbrella?
    Yes, however, they must not interfere with the view of other guests.
  • Can I bring banners/signs?
    Yes, however, the banners and signs must not interfere with the view of other guests. They cannot be of distasteful nature or content, nor can they advertise a logo or product. Signs may not be attached to any surface or obstruct permanent signage.
  • Can I bring a bag?
    Yes, bags may be subject to inspection upon entry, please refer to the prohibited item section before you enter Richardson Stadium. We are unable to hold any prohibited items for you.
  • Can I bring a camera/video camera?
    Guests are welcome to bring cameras for personal use. However, any photographic equipment cannot be used to reproduce the game and must not interfere with other fans' enjoyment of the game. Tripods, monopods will NOT be permitted into the stadium. Video cameras and video recording are prohibited.
  • I can't attend a game or show, can I get a refund?
    Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds for event or concert tickets. Tickets can be given to another individual (family/friend).
  • Can I exit Richardson Stadium and re-enter after I have scanned my ticket?
    Unfortunately, there is no re-entry into the stadium.
  • Is there a lost and found at the stadium?
    All items that are found by patrons or facility staff will be brought to the Q-Shop. Following the game all items will be brought to Q Services Counter in the Queen's Athletics and Recreation Centre at 284 Earl Street on the next business day.
  • Can I smoke / vape / use an e-cigarette at the stadium?
    No, As of June 1, 2019 Queen's University is a smoke free campus. Learn more about the Queen's Smoke-Free University Policy and available resources. More information is also available relating to cannabis on campus. Fans who leave the stadium to smoke off campus (View Queen's University's West Campus smoke-free boundaries (PDF)) must follow the re-entry policy above.
  • How long before game time will the stadium gates open for entry?
    The stadium will open 1.5 hours in advance of game time.
  • How can I learn my way around the stadium?

  • When are all the Football home games?

  • How can I purchase season tickets for other Queen's teams?
    Season ticket purchases can be purchased online or by calling customer service. These tickets are normally available in early September.
  • How can I get my game ticket?
    For all home regular season Gaels games, students can use their student cards at games for access. Please follow the directions here.
  • Do students now have to pay for tickets in the stadium?
    Full time AMS and SGPS students will continue to receive free tickets to all regular season home games as a component of their Athletics and Recreation fee.
  • Is there a charge for playoff tickets in the new stadium?
    As in previous years, in accordance with OUA regulation 4.3, student tickets are $15 each and can be purchased through your online account.
  • Where can I enter the stadium?
    Everyone attending the stadium must enter at Gate 1 or 2 on the East Side of the field.

    Strollers are not allowed in the stands with the exception of at the top of the general admission sections.

    We recommend purchasing tickets located in either section 104, 105, or 106.
  • Where will the visiting player benches be?
    The visiting team benches are located on the East side. *This is subject to change to accommodate TV or other events.

The Vanier Cup National Punt, Pass, Kick Competition Presented by Petrie Ford gets underway this fall! The inaugural competition will have all three phases of competition this year – local, provincial and national! One boy and one girl will be crowned national champions at halftime of the 2024 Vanier Cup on November 23rd, 2024 at Richardson Stadium in Kingston, Ontario.
